Gokyo Valley Trek
Gokyo valley trek is one of the most exotic treks in the Khumbu region. This trekking trail treats you with the incredible mountain scenery of majestic peaks such as Mount Everest, Ama Dablam, Nuptse, Lhotse, and many more. You will also have close insights into the lifestyle and culture of mountain leaders Sherpa community on this trek route.Gokyo trekking starts with an exotic and thrilling mountain flight to Hillary airport, Lukla. We enter deep into the Everest region passing through lush green forests, and typical Sherpa villages before reaching the acclimatization point Namche Bazaar. Namche Bazaar is the beautiful Sherpa village and the trading capital of Everest region.
The trekking trail to Gokyo is a gradual rise up to the valley passing through the patches of rhododendron forests. The best time to perform this trek is after monsoon season as we can witness the blooming of beautiful and colorful Rhododendron flower making the entire trekking experience unforgettable. We reach the Gokyo lake passing through small yak-grazing settlements.
The major highlight of the Gokyo Trek is to ascent the Gokyo Peak which stands 5,480 meters above the sea level. We can observe the magnificent and breathtaking views of Mount Everest, Makalu, Cho Yo, Lhotse and many more Himalayas of Everest region from the Gokyo peak. Also, the Gokyo lake (4,750 meters) offers a view of the long iconic ice slope at the end of the valley.Further, we pass through the landmarks of Everest area which embody majestically towering mountains, remote villages including Tengboche which is also home to one of the biggest monasteries in the Khumbu region as we descend down after reaching Gokyo peak. We return to Lukla via Monjo before taking our flight back to Kathmandu.
